Bio:
I've been teaching college level classes since 1969 in History and Humanities. I've instructed AP American history teachers how to cover AP history. I've served in local government including a five year term on the Chapel Hill Recreation Commission. I was Vice-president of the UNC Graduate History Society. I've coached for many years in many sports. But, my main sport is soccer. My teams when I was a head coach never lost a conference championship and won two state titles. I served for six years on the national rules committee for high school soccer. Until recently, I coached soccer as an assistant men's soccer at an area high school.
I teach both American History and Western Civilization. I teach a class called Religion in America during the summer months. I enjoy teaching any of the Humanities. My interests are intellectual history and foreign policy. I also teach online classes as of Summer, 2011. I try to weave films as well as traditional presentations into history to give students a visual frame of reference to help put into persepective the events and ideas they read about.
